Performance Troupe

Performance Troupe is a community dance collaborative for dancers ages 11-18 of varying dance backgrounds.  It is an open for public participation program whereas experienced young dancers can come together for to dance and perform without leaving the dance programs in which they are currently enrolled. The Troupe not only travels to exciting performance locations, but can also receive an opportunity to to work with choreographers associated with these organizations, and enjoy some of the surrounding attractions as well. This is not a competition oriented program.  This is instead the area's first and only program of its kind whereas each dancer adds strength and talent to the troupe, makes new friends and grows personally from this wonderful experience.

At its inception, this troupe was a volunteer project started for dancers who wanted to perform more than just a yearly recital.  It's debut was made with a spunky 12 minute "Country Bumpkin" presentation arranged for usage at Great Adventure New Jersey, in the Plymouth Theater for the park's "Dancefest" '97".  The following year brought a more organized and more experienced troupe which headed to Disney World in Florida with an 18 minute, non-stop, "Gettin Funky" performance on the Tomorrowland Stage for an international crowd.  Sticking with fun in the sun, South Street Seaport in Manhattan put the seasoned troupe in front by televising a portion of their continuous 30 minute performance of "Spectacular Space Hits" on NBC.

The Performance Troupe 2000 worked diligently to provide yet another appreciative audience with another outstanding show.  Featured in the International Bandstand at Paramount Park in Cincinnati, this group of dedicated dancers brought to life the "Colors of Life", with a half hour display of dance energy, fun and excitement.  Throughout this whole process, the troupe has remained comprised of volunteers who have never lost their ability to welcome new members with open arms and open minds.
